This is a steel structure of 10 storied foundation. Now three storied completed and if and when BUET will think to expand, it can be expanded upto 10 story. All provisions are for vertical expansion. This is a Japan funded project and called the BUET-JIDPUS. JIDPUS stands for Japan Institue for Disaster Prevention and Urban Safety. Shortly named as Earthquake research center.
